debris collection

As we head into summer, it is important to remember that our community is at an elevated risk of wildfires this summer.

Bay City is a recognized🔥 Firewise USA community through the NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) and we are asking for your help to maintain that status. We will hold a vegetation collection weekend on the weekend of June 13-14, 2026. Between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on those two days, you can bring vegetation debris (branches, trimmings, and other woody debris max. 6” diameter) to Watt Family Park (6385 Tillamook Avenue), where the debris will be collected and transferred to a permitted composting facility.

How did you help keep our community safe this year?

If you removed vegetation, brush, trees, etc. from your property during the year, please report that activity in dollars spent or hours spent to baycityfirewise [at] gmail.com (baycityfirewise[at]gmail[dot]com). We will use those hours or dollars to help qualify our status in the Firewise🔥program. Every hour you invested in reducing fire risk in our community is important, including any contracted work you had done, and we need to relay that information to the NFPA.

If you or your neighbors need more information about this program or how to improve your resilience to wildfire (defensible space), please also reach out to us.

This program is brought to you by the volunteers with the Bay City Fire Advisory Committee, who meet every month on the fourth Monday at 1:30 pm at City Hall. This group of volunteers would welcome your involvement!
